Magnesium alloy ZK61 is a MgZnZr alloy. The zirconium element in the alloy mainly plays the role of refining the grains, improving the mechanical properties of the alloy such as tensile yield elongation, making the ZK61 magnesium alloy a very high-strength magnesium alloy. Zirconium can reduce thermal cracking, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and creep resistance. The zinc content is between 4.8% and 6.2%, which is close to the solid solubility of zinc in magnesium alloys. The increase of zinc content plays a role of solid solution strengthening, while zinc content greater than 1% will increase the tendency of hot cracking, which is not good for welding, resulting in low welding performance and cannot be made into weldments.
